What is CoDI?

The CoDI team accesses current research, models and training while creating assessment and intervention strategies for the co-occurring disorder population. Provision of topical workshops, skill trainings and publication of materials addressing co-occurring disorders is available to behavioral health care providers, medical providers, teaching professionals, parents, and interested community members. CoDI provides training, consultation and/or supervision to agencies in the Mat-Su Borough and throughout the State of Alaska that serve adolescents, chronically mentally ill, elderly and disabled individuals struggling with co-occurring disorders.

Randy Moss

Executive Director

Randy holds a Doctorate of Philosophy, Counseling Psychology and is the Executive Director for the Co-Occurring Disorders Institute. He also runs a private practice based mainly on the principle of psychological, counseling and management services. Randy has worked in the field for over 20 years. He has an extensive background in mental illness counseling, drug and alcohol counseling, adolescent therapy, parenting, family counseling, testing/evaluation/assessment process development, comprehensive integrated program development, co-occurring disorder and dual diagnosis treatment, and more.

Debi Shade

V.P. of Operations

Debi is a native-born Alaskan who has lived on the Kenai Peninsula, Eagle River and currently resides in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley; she has also lived in Arkansas and Texas. Debi was a volunteer of the Mat-Su 4-H program for 7 years. She loves horses, fishing and camping and being with her family. Debi has worked for the Co-Occurring Disorders Institute since its beginnings as a SAMHSA funded program through Behavioral Health Services of Mat-Su (Life Quest) in September 2001 when she was hired as the program administrative assistant. She is currently the Vice President of Operations of CoDI. Her passion for the mission and vision of the CoDI project compelled her to join with other CoDI team members and create a private, non-profit corporation (CoDI, Inc.) when the 3 1/2 years of SAMHSA funding ended. Debi has been employed in the behavioral health field since 1997 and has 20+ years of experience in various areas of office administration work. She attended Arkansas Tech University and the College of the Ozarks, where she pursued higher education in business management. Debi completed the 13 week Foraker course for NonProfit management and received her certificate in December 2005.

Pauline Sullivan

Clinician

 

Pauline joins CoDI with 16+ years experience in clinical practice. She received her Master's of Education in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she went on to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Her experience includes, residential, homeless-mentally ill individuals, outpatient therapy and crisis intervention. Pauline relocated to Arizona in 2000, when she applied for National Certification (NCC) from the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and acquired licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) from the state. She went on to work with children and families in outpatient therapy and completing intake assessments and crisis intervention. Most recently she has worked for managed care, utilization review prior to her journey to Alaska where she joined the CoDI team on February 11, 2008.

Cathy Okeson

Curriculum Coordinator Family Liaison

Cathy Okeson joins CoDI with over 14 years experience of working with individuals within the social services field.  She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Child Development/Family Science and a Master’s in Psychology.  She is a Level II Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor within the State of Alaska, and is working towards attaining her Professional Counselor certification.  Cathy has worked extensively within the field of Community Corrections with a special emphasis on treatment for correctional populations.  Most recently, Cathy was the administrator of a 140-bed, six month long, therapeutic community program for felony offenders in the State of Montana.  Cathy is a native-born Alaskan and was raised in Palmer, and is thrilled to be back in her home state and working in the community she grew up in.

Kristi Campbell

Resource Clerk

Kristi Campbell has lived in Alaska since 1977. During her time in Alaska she has lived in two villages, Tuluksak and Tanana. She has also lived in Fairbanks. Kristi attended College in Hawaii and is currently working on finishing her degree at UAA. She is certified in CPR/First Aid. She also is a trained presenter of PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program). She co-presents marriage seminars with her Husband. She has been employed as a Librarian, Teacher Aid, and a Reading Tutor. Kristi is heavily involved in volunteer work and enjoys working with youth. She is active with the youth at her church. She belongs to a book club and takes pleasure in gardening and working in her yard. Kristi is passionate about her children and their activities. She enjoys attending their musical concerts. Kristi Campbell joined the CoDI team on February 13, 2008.

Michelle Grimes

Project Coordinator

 

Michelle Grimes was born and raised in Palmer, Alaska. She attended the University of Oregon where she studied Psychology and Anthropology. While attending the University of Oregon, she worked in a research lab in the Department of Psychology that studied children’s imagination and pretend play. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology she returned to Alaska. She received a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Michelle is currently working towards licensure as a clinician. She has experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and groups. She has worked with homeless youth and their families, providing direct services and crisis stabilization. Michelle loves horses! When she’s not working at CoDI, you can find her at the barn teaching riding lessons. Michelle also enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling.

Venus Hale

Webmaster Administrative Assistant

Venus Hale joins CoDI with 14+ years experience as a Executive Assistant, 4+ years as a Legal Secretary and new to Web Design. She was Head Softball coach, assistant Volleyball and assistant Basketball coach at the College of Eastern Utah in Price, Utah. She has a B.S. degree from Utah State University in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing. She loves all types of sports but is very passionate about Basketball, Bowling and watching Football. She has volunteered as a coach with many youth organizations and loves mentoring kids. She loves being involved with her children and attending their events. She is also passionate about becoming more involved in your own health and believes education is the key to gaining good health and is involved with a international nutritional company. Venus Hale joined the CoDI team on December 3, 2007.
